The athletes have colorful names like Steeltown She-Ra, Bonita Apple Bomber, Mary Lou Wreck 'Em and Loco Lu-natic. The media relations liaision was called Snarky and the bout was emceed by Debbie Does Dulles and Tenacious Z.  The season opening bout of the NOVA Roller Derby season featured the Vineyard Vixens versus the Backwoods Rollers.
