During a recent walk along U Street Corridor in Northwest Washington, D.C. I came across Dawda Oliver, an artist originally from The Gambia in West Africa, who was showcasing several pieces for sale outside of the 13th Street Metro Station. Impressed with his work and gentle demeanor with passersby and potential customers interested in purchasing his art, I waited and asked if he would not mind if I took his portrait.
